I was so relieved that “this page” was “almost done” and I didn’t have to do a lot of work while sick, only to be overjoyed when I learned that this page was ALREADY done and NEXT week’s page is the one that’s almost done.
Am I destined to have my page buffers eaten up by unforeseen circumstances? Yes, unfortunately. But at least I have them!
Shoutout to Avatar Aang who said it first and said it better.

TRANSCRIPT
Panel 1 (Imogen, closeup)
Alex, off-panel: People don’t change when they’re safe and comfortable. When things seem the worst, that’s when people can change the most.
Panel 2 (Alex, rubbing her shoulder and looking away)
Alex: My… my brother’s kind of a know-it-all, but I’ve been reading his book. The one he wrote about… about us. About our family.
Panel 3 (still Alex, but looking up again)
Alex: Are you going to try to make things work with some dingbat who only cares about how you make his life easier? Or are you going to put that effort into living the life you want?
Panels 4-7 (repeated panels of Imogen, increasingly distraught)
Imogen: That’s easy for you to say! Look at you! I don’t have an inheritance, or well-connected friends! I’m not gorgeous, or talented… I’m just a frumpy, boring… mom.
THE WAY ALEX LOOKS AT HER OMG this is my favorite one so far
imogen deserves a hug
As a stay-at-home-mom, I feel this page in my soul.
I have a feeling this is gonna result in Alex hitting Imogen with some Big Affirmation along the lines of “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways~” 🥰 She is just reading Jonathan to filth, too, no lies spoken here at all.
I love that they trust each other enough to be blunt like this. Like, they’re having probably a more real talk right now than Jonathan ever gave her. Compare this to his behavior when she wanted to go back to school earlier in the story, how he was cold about it.
She just called her gorgeous… 😏
