Panels 1-3 (textless; Imogen closes her bedroom door and slowly slides down against it until she’s sitting on the floor.)
Panel 4 (Imogen holds her hands to her mouth and breathes frantically)
Panel 5 (Imogen squeezes tears from her eyes, hands still over her mouth)
off-panel, unidentified: Mom? Is everything okay?
Tell the kids to pack and get them out of there before he tries to pit them against you, Imogen!
I’m pretty sure the at least one of the kids already knew. The huffy one when what’s her name was babysitting
Lucas was the one who helped out Alex. Yeah, if they know something’s up or suspect, it’d probably help explain some of how checked out he seemed, though I took that as maybe him helping Imogen out a lot and knowing Jonathan does fuck-all around the house.
This was my theory too. We’ll see in good time!
Oh, this is going to sting.
out of everything i think this hurts my heart the most… knowing how hurt she is and knowing her kids may see it and how that would hurt her even more
It is part of the process. You have to mourn the loss of an idea/ideal/life before you can start the growth of a new one. The kids need to see part of this, they need to know how to break and rebuild as well.
