TRANSCRIPT
Panel 1 (Jonathan puts his hand on Imogen’s on the bed)
Jonathan: Look, it… doesn’t have to mean anything. I love our life, Ginny. It was just… one mistake.
Panels 2+3 (textless, Imogen wipes her eyes)
Panel 4 (Imogen gets up and turns to leave)
Jonathan: Wait, where are you going?
Imogen: Not here.
Panel 5 (Jonathan, incredulous)
Jonathan: You’re leaving? Ginny! You can’t leave! What am I going to do with the–
Panel 6 (Imogen, tired, looking over her shoulder from the door)
Imogen: Jonathan. Shut up. Figure it out.
Whew! Well done.
It is horribly telling that he says, “I love our life”, not, “I love you”.
Man I agree, what a creep. :/
Well, that’s the last resort, right? Admit you don’t love the other person any more, but can’t they overlook this rather than ruin this life you’ve built up? Do you really want to have to go through a lengthy divorce process and then have to start your life over from scratch?
I told my husband I was leaving and he said, “But I like having you *here.*”
So… I’m still leaving, but now I feel kinda better about my decision.
YEAAAAAA! Toss those words in his face! Take care of you! Let him really feel how much he screwed up! And then, don’t give him a hope of weaseling out of the consequences! So satisfied with this page….
God I can about -feel- this scene. (Although I am preparing to raise a heck of a toast to Imogen)
Good gal, Imogen.
Interesting that he immediately assumes “not here” means “I’m walking out on you and the kids” rather than “I need to not be in the same room as you while I think about this.” He knows the “just one mistake” excuse isn’t going to do it!
Lindsay – really awesome image, his hand on hers and seeing her ring underneath.
Leave that son of a bitch!
yeah, I thought he was just going to explain she misunderstood it all and shed believe it and then he’s get careless and have her friend (I forget her name it’s been weeks since we’ve seen her lol ) catch him ……..
I unfortunately know that “figure it out.” 💜
“Just one mistake” buddy you don’t set someone’s middle name as your bank password if it’s “just one mistake”. That means something.
Good for you Imogen, I believe in you.
I hope she takes the kids with her, and/or somehow gets the house in the divorce. Hopefully her lawyer subpeonas the text messages from the phone company, cause he’ll probably try to delete them!
I am glad she’s walking out on him. If she broke down further, would it have been an Imogen Heap? Glad she didn’t give him the satisfaction.
So happy Imogen wasn’t falling for that line of crap.
I mean, ‘happy’ isn’t actually the word, given what’s going on, I guess – but gaslighting scumbuckets deserve to not have decent humans to play with, so I’m glad she didn’t fall for his crap here.
I’m sure there’ll be dark times before the light, but thank you, author.
I’m pretty sure “her middle name” meant Imogen’s middle name.
He’s still a total shitbag tho
The timestamp and content of the text messages make it pretty clear that it was not Imogen’s middle name but rather his affair patner’s middle name.
The issue here is that it’s not just one mistake.
It’s multiple deliberate choices and actions over a long period of time.
So proud of Imogen. Get it, girl.
Jonathan though. Ugh. Saying it doesn’t *have to* mean anything. I get the feeling he means it’s up to Imogen not to make a big deal of it — he’s trying to deflect blame and twist the narrative.
And something tells me the “one mistake” wasn’t the affair at all, but rather setting the original password as he did.
Can’t wait to see how Imogen handles it from here. I hope she realizes just how strong she is.
