Chapter: Chapter 9: Forsaking All Others
…and that’s what we call dramatic irony.

TRANSCRIPT
Panel 1 (Imogen, distressed)
Imogen: What context?! God! I raise your children, I clean your home, I make you dinner… every day I work for you, and you’re off–
Panel 2 (Jonathan, indignant)
Jonathan: Hold on, I didn’t make you do any of that! You said you were happy being a housewife–
Panel 3 (Imogen, furious, holding her hand to her chest)
Imogen: Where’s MY WIFE, Jonathan?! Where’s the person who takes care of me?! B-because it was supposed to be you!
“I didn’t make you do any of that.” Bulllllllllkllllll
YOUR WIFE IS NEXT DOOR, IMOGEN
WISE WORDS
Way to deflect from the actual issue, Jonathan.
*eyetwitch*
Ohhohoh….. I see the gender roles inherent to this crudmuffin’s worldview and I’d like to shove the pillow down his gullet. Marriage is a PARTNERSHIP, bucko, not a sole proprietorship.
“Where’s my wife.”
Well if this story is going to go where I think it’s going to go she’s next door.
Potential wife is out there, closer than you think…
But first Imogen needs to sort out all this shit with this guy, heal and move on and later maybe get to the wife part
I’m so sad for her, she’s suffering so much and this guy never seems to acknowledge how much she does for him 🙁
I just hope they discuss the infidelity and that he is honest, and I hope Imogen realizes what she wants to do. I’m afraid there will be some deflecting here still and I am particularly afraid of him blaming her for the infidelity or some such tosh
where INDEED is your wife, Imogen? Next door, perhaps??
(also SO proud of her for standing up to him)
‘Where’s my wife?’ is SUCH a line, I am LIVING for Imogen here!
*has violent flashback to Imogen asking to go back to school in the first chapter and shitlord husband saying “nope, can’t afford it, maybe next year” and the implications he’s been doing this for years*
fffffffffffffffffffuuuu–
Shame. For a minute there, I thought he was actually going try to come up with an excuse.
wow I hate this guy!!
Well IM instantly transported back to some early feminist literature – hey Imogen did you end up writing “I want a Wife” by chance?
“Happy being a housewife” does NOT equal being another object in the home, Jonathan. Criminy you’re pathetic.
I am pleased to see that Imogen is standing up to this loser. I hope she doesn’t let up and FIGHTS this.
This is unfortunately SUCH a real thing, and a conflict I’ve unfortunately seen play out so many times. I’m glad Imogen’s pressing the issue and not being talked down.
big lol
i mean, this is sad and crazy and horrible, but lol
HOLY SHIT I FORGOT PEOPLE LIKE JONATHAN EXIST I HATE THE WORLD AGAIN
I vote that we kill him with fire. Anyone else wanna kill him with fire?
”I didn’t MAKE you do any of that”. This line hit me so hard. My ex said the same thing when we had a fight. Telling me off for doing an effort. The line somehow make it seem like I’m the bad person for doing everything for her…. it honestly hurts like hell, when you thought she’s different than anyone. Then few days after the break up, she admitted she hoped I’d fail so she’ll have the reason to break up with me. I guess I was right. I’m always gonna be the bad guy in her life.
Everyone in the comments being like “WE KNOW WHERE YOUR WIFE IS” is giving me life.
